The "Department of War" Returns... Are You Ready for the Shift?

Hello Reader!

Did you catch the news? Back in September 2025, the U.S. government renamed the "Department of Defense" back to its original moniker: the Department of War. This was just six months after Neptune entered Aries for the first time since its last entry in 1862.

On the surface, it’s just a label change. But to the astrology enthusiast, it’s a flashing red light confirming a massive energetic shift.

For the last 84 years (since the 1940s), we’ve been operating under a Libra vibration—the sign of diplomacy, alliances, and "defense." Neptune's last entry into Libra was in 1943. But on 26 January 2026, for the final time until the year 2188, Neptune will enter Aries, the sign of the Warrior, the Ram, and the Sword.

History appears to be repeating itself right on schedule.

What Does Neptune in Aries Mean?

According to Stan Barker’s The Signs of the Times, this transit (which last occurred during the U.S. Civil War and, before that, the War of the Spanish Succession) brings:

Total War: A shift from strategic containment to "scorched earth" tactics. In the 1860s, General William Tecumseh Sherman embodied this energy, famously stating, "War is cruelty and you cannot refine it." He burned Atlanta and marched to the sea, leaving a "blackened trail" to destroy the enemy's will .

The "Head" of State: A period of immense danger and instability for national leaders, as Aries rules the head.

Opposition to Union: The fracturing of great alliances (like NATO or the UN, and even the United States) as nations prioritize "self" (Aries) over "partnership" (Libra).

The "War Lord" Factor

To make things even more intense, Saturn will join Neptune in Aries from 2026 to 2028. Historically, this combination manifests as the "War Lord" archetype—leaders who suspend civil liberties and impose martial law to hold a crumbling nation together.

Barker points to Edwin Stanton, Lincoln’s Secretary of War, as the archetype for this period. After Lincoln's assassination, historical accounts describe Stanton as taking "charge of the Republic" and acting as a "dictator" who "recognized no authority higher than his own" .

Is it Happening Now? Technically, the cycle begins in January 2026. However, astrologer C.C. Zain taught that the physical manifestation of a cycle often waits until the planet crosses 0° Declination, which will happen for the last time in February 2027. We are likely in the "rhetorical" phase right now—where the language (like "Department of War") shifts before the physical reality does completely.

But this period of apparent dissolution and anarchy while Neptune sits at 29° Pisces, ready to enter the gateway to a brand new start, parallels the skirmishes leading into the American Civil War.

I will be sharing more on this once-in-a-lifetime transit as we get closer to the ingress. Exploring this topic is the best way to prepare for the "Time of the Sword."

Hello Reader! I wanted to share something I’ve been building for my own practice that I think you’re going to love. If you’ve ever stared at a transit chart—like Transiting Saturn square Natal Moon—and struggled to turn those keywords into a clear, meaningful sentence, you are not alone. We all know the pieces: The Planet: The energy source. The House: Where it's happening. The Aspect: The action The Rulership: The outcome (the part almost everyone misses!) Connecting them all in your head...

Hello Reader! I hope you've had an enjoyable weekend. I was reviewing some synastry charts this week and noticed a pattern that sparked my thinking about what these planetary overlays can (and definitely cannot) tell us about relationships. There's such a common misconception that synastry can predict if a couple will "make it" – but that's not really what this tool is designed for. Instead, I find synastry most valuable as a map of our emotional blind spots and interaction patterns. Let me...

Hello Reader! I hope you're doing well and having a great week. I know that it has been a long time since you've heard from me. Honestly, that long silence is part of the Saturn difficulties I touch upon in this note. I'm planning to be in touch with you more often as I continue to rebuild my life. Last month, I noticed something was happening with Theo Von when his videos after Charlie Kirk's death started circulating. He seemed extremely distressed and troubled. If you missed it, the video...
